Thanks for taking the time to try it out.  The option key is the one between the control key and the command key on the left of the spacebar.  You can also find it to the right of the command button on the right of the spacebar.  I wonder, did you hold it down while you dragged the corner?  It can be a bit tricky to catch that little cross on the right.</description>
